Cyclists are being invited to explore the Isle of Wight's scenic trails and coastline while raising money for animals in need at this year's Red Squirrel Ride.
The charity cycling event, organised in support of the RSPCA Isle of Wight's Island Animal Centre, offers participants a choice of two largely traffic-free routes covering 16 or 34 miles.
Both circular rides start and finish at the Animal Centre, with the shorter route aimed at families and less experienced cyclists.
The longer challenge takes riders on a wider tour of the Island, passing through Newport, Quarr Abbey, Ryde seafront, St Helens and Brading before rejoining the shorter route at Alverstone.
Much of the course follows the Island's Red Squirrel Trail network, using former railway lines and dedicated cycle paths, allowing riders to enjoy the Isle of Wight's countryside, beaches and attractions at their own pace.
Entry costs £20 for adults and £10 for children, with all finishers receiving a commemorative Red Squirrel Ride medal.
Checkpoints staffed by volunteers will provide support and refreshments along the way.
Funds raised will help the Island Animal Centre continue caring for local animals that have suffered cruelty, neglect or abandonment.
The shorter 16-mile route is suitable for families, although children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets and further information are available via the event organisers.
