Islanders travelling with Red Funnel can now benefit from an extended free bus connection into Southampton, thanks to a new partnership with Bluestar.
The scheme builds on the existing Quayconnect bus, which links the ferry terminals with Southampton Central Station during the day. Now, the service will run into the evening via Bluestar’s Route 19.
The nearest stop to Red Funnel is on Town Quay Road, opposite the Platform Tavern.
Passengers simply need to show a valid, dated Red Funnel foot passenger ticket to travel for free.
This applies to both Red Jet and vehicle ferry foot passengers, as well as rail tickets that include ferry travel.
Red Funnel’s Director of Operations, Neil Chapman, said customer feedback had played a key role in launching the service:
“Thanks to feedback from our customers, we are proud to launch this extended service.
"It’s another step in making travel easier and more accessible for everyone using Red Funnel.”
Bluestar’s General Manager, Richard Tyldsley, added:
“We’re delighted to partner with Red Funnel on this initiative. It’s a fantastic opportunity to support local connectivity and offer even more value to passengers.”
The free bus offer is valid in both directions, including journeys towards the Red Funnel terminals.
Full details, including timetables, are available on Red Funnel’s website.
