Police have issued an update on today's travel chaos around Cowes — confirming they were called to an address on Horsebridge Hill at 9.57pm last night (3 December) following concerns for the welfare of a man inside the property.

Officers attended alongside other emergency services and engaged with the occupant for several hours, continuing into the early hours of 4 December.

The man has since been safely brought out of the address and is now in the care of both the ambulance service and police.

A prolonged road closure was required while crews worked to bring the situation to a safe conclusion.

Police have thanked the local community for their patience and say the road will reopen in due course.

As a result of the incident, Horsebridge Hill has remained closed between Noke Common and Stag Lane, leading to significant traffic delays in the area.

Pallance Road in Northwood is heavily congested — with parked vehicles worsening the bottleneck — while Noke Common remains open but busy as it continues to absorb diverted traffic.
