Plans have been submitted to convert a house in Haylands into a seven-bedroom House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).

Applicants Mr and Miss Jerram are seeking permission to change the use of 1 Butts Road, a residential property close to Upton Road Park.

Planning documents state the proposed HMO would provide seven individual letting rooms, along with shared kitchen, bathroom and communal facilities.

A mix of en-suite and shared bathrooms is also included within the design.

The application also makes provision for cycle storage, refuse facilities, off-road parking and a garage.

In a Planning Statement submitted to the Isle of Wight Council, Holbrook Architectural Services says the proposal would make appropriate use of the existing property in a sustainable location, with future residents benefiting from nearby services, amenities and public transport links.

The agent also states the development would not cause unacceptable harm to the character of the surrounding area, neighbouring properties or highway safety.

The Isle of Wight Council is accepting public comments on application 26/00748/FUL until 7th September, with a decision expected by 30th September.
