New plans could see flexible commercial units made available just outside Newport, supporting local businesses and boosting the Island’s economy.
Palmers IOW has submitted a change of use application for two vacant buildings at Hangar Business Park, off Forest Road, which were previously used as a car showroom and vehicle servicing site.
According to planning documents submitted by the applicant’s agent, BCM Wilson Hill, the proposal would allow for a “range of permissible tenants” to move in quickly, providing opportunities for both established businesses and startups.
A spokesperson for BCM Wilson Hill said the plans would:
“Support local employment and the expansion of existing local companies through sustainable growth and the re-use of existing employment buildings.”
They added that the development would not alter the site’s overall appearance or harm the surrounding landscape.
Public consultation on the application (reference 25/01325/FUL) is open until 7 November, with a decision expected on 28 November.
