Isle of Wight businesses can apply for grants of up to £50,000 through a new £600,000 fund aimed at supporting investment, business growth and local jobs — with dedicated funding available for Ryde.

Ryde Town Council is being urged to do more to support local businesses as concerns continue over the number of empty shops in the town centre.

Businesses across the Isle of Wight are being encouraged to sign up to a free crime prevention scheme, with funding extended to allow more firms to take part.

New plans could see flexible commercial units made available just outside Newport, supporting local businesses and boosting the Island’s economy.
