Plans have been put forward to build a block of five flats on a town centre site in Ryde currently linked to anti-social behaviour.
Applicants Ian and Carol Hudson are seeking permission to develop brownfield land behind 13 Union Street, with proposals for a mix of three two-bedroom apartments and two one-bedroom flats.
Planning documents, prepared by Craig Soutar Architecture and Phil Salmon Planning, say the development would help meet demand for additional housing on the Island.
The statement also highlights concerns about the current condition of the site, describing it as attracting anti-social behaviour due to its secluded location.

It adds that a narrow pedestrian link from Union Street has been used by people taking drugs, creating ongoing issues for nearby residents.
The proposed building would be three storeys high and designed in a traditional style, intended to fit in with surrounding properties.
Planners also point to the site’s access to public transport, as well as nearby footpaths and local amenities, as benefits for future residents.
Isle of Wight Council has opened a public consultation on the application, which will run until May 1.
A decision on the plans is expected to be made by May 25.
