Work to upgrade the popular shared path along the former railway line between Wootton and Binfield is continuing, with the next phase of resurfacing due to begin after the Easter weekend.
Isle of Wight Council says contractors completed essential clearance of overhanging branches in February, ahead of the bird-nesting season.
However, wet weather and flooding delayed resurfacing work, which only began in March.
Despite this, the section between Station Road and Park Road will reopen in time for the Easter weekend as originally planned.
To ensure full access over the busy bank holiday period, work on the next stretch — between Park Road and Belmont Lane Bridge — will be paused until after Easter, meaning the entire route will be open for walkers, cyclists and other users.
The improvements are part of the wider Island Green Link scheme, aimed at creating a continuous walking and cycling route between Ryde and Yarmouth, alongside other transport upgrades.
Councillor Julie Jones-Evans said it was positive the first section will be open in time for Easter, adding that the work will make the path safer and more accessible all year round.
She also thanked residents for their patience while the improvements continue.
