A newly refurbished care home in Blackwater has officially opened to the public ahead of welcoming its first residents.
Lake View Care Home has undergone a major £2.5 million transformation over the past seven months, following its £2 million purchase by English Oak Care Homes.
Around 40 builders were involved in the project, with local firms including Plenty Construction and Lifeline Fire & Security contributing to the redevelopment.
Members of the community and local organisations attended the opening event on Tuesday (April 14th) where they were given the opportunity to look around the updated facilities.
Visitors were also treated to refreshments from Wight Ices.
The official opening was marked at midday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Nigel Hartley, who recently took on the role of High Sheriff.
The home offers 55 beds across 54 bedrooms, including a dedicated room for couples with views overlooking the lake.
The first residents are expected to move in next month, subject to an inspection by the Care Quality Commission later this week.
When fully operational, the care home is expected to employ around 55 staff.
Jessica McGoven has been appointed as registered manager, bringing extensive experience to the position.
Previously known as Blackwater Mill Care Home, the site has been completely redeveloped and rebranded as Lake View, marking a new chapter under its new ownership.
