A new community space offering support, companionship and a place for quiet reflection has opened at Colwell Baptist Church.
The Quiet Corner has been created for unpaid carers, people who have been bereaved and anyone experiencing loneliness or isolation, providing a welcoming environment where visitors can relax and connect with others.
The space is available at all times for personal reflection, while volunteers are on hand every Friday between 10:30am and 12pm to offer a warm welcome, hot drinks and conversation.
Visitors can choose how they spend their time, whether that is enjoying a moment of peace, taking part in creative activities, meeting new people or helping to develop the church's garden area.
The volunteer-led project has been designed to evolve through community involvement, with people encouraged to share ideas and help shape future activities and groups.
Lead volunteer Janet Grimwood said the space offers an opportunity for people to prioritise their own wellbeing and find respite from the challenges of everyday life.
Co-lead volunteer Joy Wiltshire said she was looking forward to working with visitors to create a peaceful garden space offering tranquillity and sensory experiences.
The Quiet Corner also receives support from a West Wight Community Connector, who will attend every fortnight to provide additional advice and guidance to those who need it.
Anyone who would like more information about The Quiet Corner can contact Colwell Baptist Church on 753741.
