A much-loved Isle of Wight holiday destination has marked a major milestone, as Nettlecombe Farm celebrated 50 years in the tourism industry.
The family-run farm, nestled in the heart of the Island’s countryside, has been owned and operated by the Morris family for more than a century.
Today, three generations work together to offer a blend of rural charm, hands-on experiences and award-winning accommodation.
Nettlecombe Farm now features nine dog-friendly self-catering cottages, morning animal-feeding tours, three coarse fishing lakes, yoga and Pilates sessions, educational visits for schools and groups, and discounted cross-Solent travel through partnerships with Red Funnel and Wightlink.
Visitors can meet a wide range of animals, from traditional favourites like cows, goats, chickens and rabbits, to more unusual residents including reindeer, alpacas and even an emu.
The business originally opened its doors to guests in 1975, when John and Jose Morris converted the farmhouse into a bed and breakfast.
What began as a small venture to support the farm quickly developed into a thriving holiday destination.
Over the decades, buildings were transformed into self-contained cottages and the site expanded to accommodate the growing number of returning guests.
Reflecting on the anniversary, owner Jose Morris said:
“It’s so rewarding looking back on the past 50 years to see how the farm has developed and the joy it has brought to so many families.
"We’re incredibly grateful to our staff, who always go above and beyond for our guests.
"We continue to make improvements year on year and feel proud that families have been returning for generations.”
Long-time visitors Ray and Steve added:
“We absolutely love Nettlecombe – so much so that we’ve visited over 40 times.
"It feels like a home away from home. The staff genuinely care, and it shows in everything they do.”
As it marks half a century of rural getaways, the Morris family says its focus remains the same: offering relaxing, memorable stays that combine nature, adventure and family fun.
Bookings for 2026 are now open, and more information can be found on the farm’s website.
