Vectis Radio, the Community Radio Station based in Newport is being supported by local musicians and artists in a fundraising evening on the 10th October.
Maggie Currie, the event organiser, said:
“As an Ofcom licenced community radio station, we are limited by our licence on the amount of money we can earn through advertising and sponsorship. However, other fundraising is not limited and we need to get a bit more in to keep the station running.”
She continued:
“This event will do just that and I was taken aback at how willing our local artists are to help us. I just asked and they said yes!”
Local musicians supporting this event are Ben Stubbs, Baron Fortitude, Blackfoot Daisy, Ruby, and Paul Armfield. In addition, there is comedy from Martyn Bonner, magic from Huxley, and Coco Monroe's Burlesque Chair Dancers. There is a licenced bar and plenty of free parking.
Vectis Radio Director, Ian Mac, said:
“We are spoiled for talent on this island and so grateful to these artists for donating their time and talents free of charge.” He continued, “We'd also like to thank The Waterfront Restaurant in Totland for sponsoring the room hire, making sure that every penny spent on tickets goes to support Vectis Radio and in turn the ability to run our 4Ps courses for people with additional needs.”
The event, at the Riverside Centre, runs from 6:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday 10th October. Tickets are £15 and are available from Ticketsource via www.ticketsource.co.uk/vectis-radio-cic
