Joe Robertson is set to host the East Wight Jobs, Training and Careers Fair in Sandown next month, bringing together local employers and education providers to help Islanders discover job opportunities, training routes and potential new career paths.

The event will take place on Friday 17 April at the Broadway Centre, Sandown, with doors open from 15:00 to 17:30.

It is open to people of all ages — from young people considering their future to adults seeking a career change, further training or a return to work.

A wide range of organisations and employers will be in attendance, offering guidance on jobs, apprenticeships, skills and training opportunities.

Those expected include Southern Water, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, Visit Isle of Wight and HTP Apprenticeship College.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mr Robertson said creating more opportunities for Islanders remains a key priority.

He added that the fair is designed to help people at every stage of life — whether they are looking for their first job, considering an apprenticeship, or exploring a completely new direction.

He also highlighted the importance of retraining and career development later in life, noting that many people are keen to build new skills, return to work or take on a fresh challenge, and that events like this can help connect them with the right employers and training providers.
