Residents at Orchard House Care Home in Newport have been enjoying a programme of activities combining live music, food and a celebration of the Isle of Wight’s royal heritage.
A recent barbecue brought residents together to enjoy freshly prepared food from the home’s chef, alongside live music performed by Independent Arts, which encouraged singing, dancing and reminiscence throughout the afternoon.
The home also marked the birthday of Queen Victoria, a figure closely linked to the Isle of Wight through her time at Osborne House in East Cowes.
To help bring the occasion to life, Head of Lifestyle Katie dressed as Queen Victoria, adding a light-hearted touch to the celebrations and sparking conversations among residents about Island history and royal connections.
Katie Schlepp said the activities are designed to encourage engagement and enjoyment.
She said:
“We love creating meaningful experiences that bring people together.
"Whether it’s enjoying live music and a barbecue or celebrating a piece of local history, these moments encourage conversation, connection and plenty of smiles.”
Orchard House says the events are part of its wider approach to supporting wellbeing through regular social activities, helping residents stay active, connected and engaged within the local community.
