Hurricanes RFC Chase Down 183 To Beat Shanklin & Godshill In Run-Fest

Hurricanes RFC swapped tries and tackles for wickets and runs, as they produced an impressive batting display in a 20-Over per side cricket match against Shanklin & Godshill Midweek XI at the weekend.

The oval ball stars managed an impressive 183 for 4 in an entertaining friendly at Westhill Road, having seen their opponents rattle up 182 for 6.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat, Shanklin & Godshill recovered from an early wobble, as Will Mew top-scored with 35 not out, while Ollie Morgan added 32 not out and Olly Niemiec retired unbeaten on 32. Andy Dingle also chipped in with a quickfire 17.

Extras played a significant part in the total, with Hurricanes conceding 28 runs through wides and no-balls.

Matt Miselbach was the standout bowler for Hurricanes, finishing with figures of 2-15.

In reply, Hurricanes lost opener Ben Shannon for just eight, but strong contributions from the middle order kept the chase firmly on track.

Jordan Langdon retired on 31, Tom Marriott retired unbeaten on 30, and Chris Ormerod also retired after making 32, putting the visitors in a commanding position.

George Griffith was the pick of the Shanklin attack with 2-16.

Nathan Proud remained unbeaten on 23, with Harry Miselbach finishing 4 not out, as Hurricanes reached 183 for 4 with an over to spare to complete the successful chase.

The victory capped an entertaining, high-scoring contest, with Hurricanes' composed batting proving enough to overhaul Shanklin & Godshill's total.
