Hovertravel Makes Seaweed Available To Island Community

Seaweed collected from Ryde Hoverport is being made available to Isle of Wight community organisations for a second year.

The Stonelands Project, based at Niton Undercliff, is using it as a natural mulch and soil improver while growing fruit and vegetables.

The seaweed is naturally deposited at the hoverport by tides, currents, wind and waves, before being cleared from passenger areas by Hovertravel staff.

The project also supports young people through agricultural work, mentoring and practical experience.
