Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Collision On Military Road

A motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries following a collision with a car on the Military Road on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the incident between Coastguard Cottages and Whale Chine at around 14:30 following reports of a crash involving a blue motorcycle and a Mitsubishi Colt.

The collision left both vehicles with substantial front-end damage, with the airbags in the Mitsubishi deploying on impact.

Paramedics, including a Critical Care Paramedic and an Operational Commander, attended the scene to assess and treat those involved.

Firefighters from Newport were also mobilised but were stood down shortly after arriving.

Traffic delays built up in both directions along the Military Road as emergency services worked at the scene.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has since confirmed that three people were injured in the collision.

Two suffered minor injuries, while the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and required further medical treatment.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
