Morrisons Petrol Station In Newport Remains Closed Following Robbery And Assault

Morrisons petrol station in Newport remains cordoned off this morning (Sunday) following a robbery and assault on a member of staff.

Police were called to the forecourt, located in the centre of Newport, at 7.29pm yesterday evening (Saturday) after reports that a man had entered the store and attacked an employee.

The suspect is then believed to have stolen a quantity of goods, including tobacco and alcohol, before fleeing the scene.

The petrol station remains closed today, with an inner cordon still in place while enquiries continue.
