Health officials are continuing to investigate an outbreak of meningococcal disease in Kent, with 29 cases now identified.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) says 18 cases have been confirmed in laboratories, while a further 11 are still under investigation.
Two people have died, although no additional deaths have been reported since the last update.
Experts have carried out initial testing on the strain involved and say the Bexsero vaccine, currently being offered in Kent, is expected to protect against it.
The strain has been identified as part of the MenB group, which has been circulating in the UK in recent years.
UKHSA says it is sharing its findings with national and international partners to support further research.
Work is continuing alongside the NHS and the University of Kent to limit the spread.
So far, more than 2,300 vaccinations have been given, along with nearly 10,000 doses of antibiotics to those considered at risk.
Meera Chand, Strategic Response Director at UKHSA, says the latest analysis is reassuring, but more work is needed to fully understand the strain.
She is also urging people to remain vigilant, adding that anyone who notices symptoms should seek urgent medical help.
Health officials stress that the risk to the wider public remains low, while efforts continue to trace contacts and offer treatment where needed.
