Islanders are being invited to attend a memorial service for John Frederick Howe, a dedicated public servant who spent his life supporting the West Wight community.
Mr Howe, who passed away on 14 November, was born on the Isle of Wight and devoted decades to local service.
He spent more than 50 years as a Totland Parish Councillor and 20 years representing Totland on the Isle of Wight Council, alongside extensive volunteer and community work which touched countless lives.
His son, Paul Howe, who grew up on the Island but now lives in the United States, said the Isle of Wight would always remain home to the family and spoke of his father’s deep commitment to serving others.
The Howe family hopes as many people as possible whose lives were impacted by John’s community service will join them to remember and celebrate his life.
A memorial service will take place on:
When: Saturday (10 January) at 11am.
Where: Christ Church, Alum Bay New Road, Totland Bay.
The family is encouraging Islanders to share details of the service so that friends, colleagues, residents and community members who knew John have the opportunity to attend.
Paul expressed his gratitude to the community for their support and kind messages since his father’s passing, saying his family would be “very grateful” for help in spreading the word so the West Wight community can come together to pay tribute.
