Passengers travelling between the Isle of Wight and the mainland are facing delays of up to an hour this afternoon following a medical emergency onboard a Wightlink ferry.

The incident happened on the Victoria of Wight while operating on the Portsmouth to Fishbourne route.

Wightlink first alerted passengers to the situation shortly before 2pm, warning that delays were likely while emergency services attended the vessel.

In a further update issued later in the afternoon, the ferry operator confirmed that sailings on its car ferry service were being affected, with delays of up to 60 minutes possible for passengers travelling in both directions across the Solent.

Despite the disruption, customers are being advised to check in for their booked sailings as normal.

Wightlink says its teams are working to minimise delays and restore services as quickly as possible.
