Hundreds of pounds have been raised following an appeal by Isle of Wight grandmother Gwen Prince to help her 11-year-old grandson, Logan Frankum, travel to London for a Britain’s Got Talent audition next month.

Logan plans to sing a song from the Lion King during his audition on Saturday September 6.

Logan is the oldest of three siblings and has already impressed audiences in the Island’s Got Talent contest.

Now he’s been invited to a national audition — but neither his mum nor his gran can afford the travel and overnight costs.

The family have never been to London before, and Gwen has been overwhelmed by the kindness fellow Islanders have shown during the GoFundMe campaign.

The target of £750 has now been achieved, with the total money raised standing at more than £800 at the time of writing, allowing Logan to stay closer to the studios and some extra funds in case the dream takes another step and Logan makes the next stage.

Gwen said:

“At first, I told Logan to be prepared for disappointment, because it didn’t look like we’d raise enough - and he took that really well.
"But when I saw how much had come in, I nearly died of shock!”

Logan added:

“It’s brilliant to have so much support - going on Britain’s Got Talent has always been my dream.
"I grew up watching the show, and now I’ll be performing ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’ from The Lion King.
"Yesterday we only had £5... and then suddenly it was £700. I couldn’t believe it!”
