A secondary school on the Isle of Wight has increased security measures and moved PE lessons after reports of a suspicious individual near the school perimeter.
Lift Ryde sent an urgent reassurance letter to families on Thursday evening confirming that Police are investigating concerns about a member of the public acting suspiciously close to the school site.
The school says the matter is being treated “extremely seriously”, with immediate safeguarding measures now put in place.
These include increased staff patrols around perimeter fences and school boundaries during the school day, as well as during drop-off and pick-up times.
As a precaution, all PE lessons have also been relocated away from the perimeter while the situation is being dealt with.
In its letter to parents and carers, the school confirmed it is working closely with Police to investigate the report and ensure officers are fully aware of the concerns raised.
No further details have been released about the nature of the reported behaviour, when the incident is alleged to have happened, or whether the individual involved has been identified.
The school has urged anyone with information or concerns to come forward.
