Voters on the Isle of Wight are being reminded of key deadlines ahead of the Isle of Wight Council elections on Thursday 7 May 2026.

Elections will take place across all 39 electoral divisions, with polling cards being delivered from Monday 23 March.

These will confirm how residents are registered to vote and provide details of their polling station, with some locations having changed.

The deadline to register to vote is Monday 20 April, while applications for postal votes must be submitted by 5pm on Tuesday 21 April.

Anyone wishing to vote by proxy has until 5pm on Tuesday 28 April to apply.

Residents planning to vote in person are reminded they must bring valid photo identification.

Accepted forms include a passport or driving licence, although other forms of ID are also permitted.

Those without suitable ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate.

The Notice of Election will be published on Monday 30 March, with nominations closing at 4pm on Thursday 9 April.

Votes will be counted on Friday 8 May, with results expected later that day.

The elections were originally scheduled for May 2025 but were postponed, with those elected set to serve until May 2029.
