An Isle of Wight woman is preparing to take on an 82km ultra marathon around the Island next month in support of suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

Kaylee Gauntlett is fundraising through a GoFundMe page, with a target of £400 (she has raised £130 so far).

Her challenge will see her run and walk the Island’s coastline as part of the Action Challenge Ultra Marathon, with an expected completion time of around 12 to 14 hours alongside her brother-in-law, Anthony.

In her appeal, she said:

“Most of us will suffer some mental health issues across our life span, no one is immune.
"It is so important to talk about it, share our experiences and be there for others when they need to talk.”

She added that the challenge will push her both physically and mentally, while raising awareness for a cause she says is close to many people’s lives.

CALM is a suicide prevention charity offering support, online resources and a helpline for people struggling, those bereaved by suicide, or anyone concerned about someone else.

The charity says just £12.20 can fund a potentially life-saving call.
