Tate Kump, a 16-year-old local sailor, will take on an incredible challenge next Saturday (August 30) when he attempts a solo, non-stop sail in his ILCA dinghy around the Isle of Wight to raise money for Cancer Research.

The 60-plus mile sail is expected to take 12–14 hours, depending on the weather and tides.

Sailing alone in his small dinghy, Tate will face an extreme challenge.

He has already raised over £7,000 so far for Cancer Research and hopes to increase that total with further donations.

“Many of my friends and family have been affected by cancer, and I wanted to do something that would make a real difference.” Tate said.

Donations to support Tate’s challenge can be made via his fundraising page:
