An Isle of Wight police officer has been recognised for his outstanding dedication and support to colleagues, after being named joint Federation Reps’ Rep of the Year at the 2025 Hampshire Police Federation Awards.

Simon O’Dea, a Federation Representative based on the Isle of Wight, shared the award with Stuart Freeston, the Federation’s Deputy Misconduct Lead.

Both were nominated by fellow representatives for their commitment to helping colleagues and going above and beyond in their roles.

Simon is one of only a handful of misconduct-trained Federation Reps on the Island and continues to take on significant responsibilities in this area.

He recently joined the Federation Board, where he’s working to ensure the voices and experiences of Isle of Wight officers are represented at a wider level.

Speaking after receiving the award, Simon said he was “very surprised and very shocked” to win, adding:

“Being a Rep is about making sure you’re there to support people and give them the confidence that whatever they’re going through, there’s someone there to help.
"It’s about giving people positivity and reassurance in tough times.”

Chair of Hampshire Police Federation, Spencer Wragg, praised both winners, saying:

“We recognise the hard work of all our Fed Reps, but this year Stu and Simon have gone above and beyond.
"They are a great support to their colleagues and passionate about learning new skills and growing the Federation. Well done both!”

The awards ceremony, held on Friday 17 October, celebrated the achievements of officers and Federation Representatives across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The event was supported by sponsors including Serve and Protect Credit Union, Police Friendly, Gallagher, Slater & Gordon, and Police Mutual.

Simon attended the ceremony alongside Stuart, Hampshire Police Federation Secretary Matt Curson, and sponsor representative Jamie McDonnell from Slater & Gordon.
