Indie band The Pill have announced they are stepping away from music and will no longer be an active band, cancelling all upcoming and future live shows.
In a statement shared with fans, the band confirmed that Lily Hutchings has made the difficult decision to step back, bringing the project to an end after seven years.
All headline shows have been cancelled, with refunds available from the original point of sale.
Reflecting on their journey, the band said the past seven years had been “a wild ride”, filled with unforgettable experiences and opportunities.
They described last year as particularly intense, calling it one of the most rewarding but physically and mentally demanding periods of their careers.
The band explained that the pressures of extensive touring had taken a toll, particularly on Lily, who has taken longer to recover from burnout.
They said the decision was made with mental health firmly in mind, stressing the importance of recognising the signs of exhaustion and prioritising wellbeing.
Despite the split, both members are moving on to new chapters.
Lottie Massey will continue making music independently, while Lily is returning to a quieter life on the Isle of Wight, where she will focus on her jewellery business, Lil Bette.
The band also paid tribute to the many people who supported them along the way, including fellow musicians, promoters, radio stations and fans, thanking those who attended shows, streamed their music and bought merchandise.
They ended their message by confirming one final release is still to come, described as a “special treat” and a final goodbye to fans.
