For the second year running, the Isle of Wight has been shortlisted as the ‘Most Desirable Island in Europe’ in the prestigious Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards.
With an expected 200,000+ individual voters to participate, competition for the awards promises to be greater than ever, in the UK’s biggest consumer-voted travel awards.
To tempt voters, there is a shared prize pot valued at £70 000, and includes a 5-star full board stay in the Maldives, a 13-day expedition for two and a stay at a luxury holiday villa in Corfu for 6 people
We’re being urged to vote for the Isle of Wight before the deadline of 27 October, in the face of strong competition in the category, from Santorini to the Isles of Scilly.
Will Myles, MD at Visit Isle of Wight said:
“Please take a few minutes to vote, to show your support for the Isle of Wight as the Most Desirable Island in Europe!
“It’s all too easy for a small minority to knock the Island we love, but we are proud of where we live and by working together, we can get the Isle of Wight to the top of these prestigious awards.”
Will explained what the awards mean:
“The Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards are seen as one of the top accolades in the industry.
"Wanderlust is a global brand, and the recognition for winning this award will also be global – we want to give the Island the best chance and urge everyone to vote!
“In 2024, we were pipped to the post by Malta. It would be absolutely fantastic to bring home the top prize of the Wanderlust Most Desirable Island in Europe!”
The voting process takes around 5 minutes and to qualify for entry to the prize draw, participants must have a Facebook or Instagram account.
