Island Households Urged To Act Ahead Of Energy Price Rise

An Isle of Wight charity is encouraging households to review their energy tariffs before bills are expected to increase in October.

The Footprint Trust says the change to the Energy Price Cap could add around £60 to the average annual household bill.

People on standard variable tariffs are being advised to compare available deals, with the charity saying some fixed-rate options are currently cheaper than the existing cap. Those already on fixed tariffs will not be affected by the October change.

Households struggling to meet payments are also encouraged to contact their energy supplier to discuss an affordable repayment arrangement.

The Footprint Trust offers free and impartial support to Island residents, including help with billing disputes and advice on reducing energy use at home.

The charity is urging people considering a new tariff to compare their options before the new cap takes effect.
