With the Isle of Wight Council elections fast approaching on May 7, the political picture is beginning to take shape as a number of current councillors confirm whether they plan to stand again.
The elections, run by Isle of Wight Council, were postponed from last year, with those elected set to serve until May 2029.
Polling cards are due to be sent out from March 23, while the deadline to register to vote is April 20.
Several well-known figures at County Hall have already announced their intentions.
Among those stepping down are Conservative councillor Joe Robertson in Bembridge, Labour’s Richard Quigley in Cowes North, Independent councillor David Adams in Nettlestone and Seaview, and Geoff Brodie in Pan and Barton.
Others have already confirmed they will seek re-election, including Claire Critchison in Chale, Niton and Shorwell, Karl Love in East Cowes, Rebecca Cameron in Freshwater South, and Chris Jarman in Totland and Colwell.
In Ryde, multiple councillors are aiming to retain their seats, including Michael Lilley, Karen Lucioni and Phil Jordan, while Debbie Andre is also standing again in Sandown North.
However, many councillors across the Island have yet to publicly confirm their plans, leaving several wards still uncertain as the deadline approaches.
Voters across the Isle of Wight will head to the polls in May to decide the future makeup of the council, in what is expected to be a closely watched election.
