The Portsmouth Daisy Bus service, which transports Isle of Wight patients from the Southsea Hover terminal to QA Hospital, is set to move under new management early next year.
From 5 January 2026, the service will transfer from Wessex Cancer Support to the Daisy Ring Bus CIC, bringing the Portsmouth and Southampton Daisy Buses together under one coordinated, community-led organisation.
The move will allow Wessex Cancer Support to focus on its core work providing emotional and psychological help to people affected by cancer, while the Daisy Ring Bus CIC takes full responsibility for transport support.
Michele Le Quesne Newton, Chair of the Daisy Ring Bus CIC, said the team is committed to supporting Islanders undergoing treatment.
“Everything we do is done with care and compassion,” she said.
“We will be here for any Islander needing radiotherapy or chemotherapy in Southampton or Portsmouth — we’ve got you.”
Diane Cutler, Chair of Wessex Cancer Support, welcomed the change.
“This is great news for any Islander who needs to use the Portsmouth Daisy Bus,” she said.
“We are hugely grateful to everyone who has helped make this possible.
"Our Newport Cancer Support Centre will continue providing free services, including counselling, complementary therapies and support groups.”
The Portsmouth Daisy Bus will be temporarily unavailable between 22 December 2025 and 5 January 2026 while rebranding, safety checks and vehicle servicing are carried out.
