Hovertravel has announced its support for the Steps to Remember Walk, a heartfelt fundraising initiative in aid of Dementia UK Admiral Nurses on the Isle of Wight.
The Steps to Remember Walk is more than just a challenge – it is a journey of remembrance, reflection and community spirit.
Participants are encouraged to walk 70 miles, the equivalent of circumnavigating the Isle of Wight coastline.
Supporters can complete the distance in one go, spread their miles out over time, or even take part virtually from wherever they are.
Every step taken helps raise awareness and funds to support families living with dementia.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity.
Its highly trained nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care and practical and emotional support to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.
Admiral Nurses work tirelessly to ensure families are not facing dementia alone.
As part of the initiative, everyone who signs up will receive a Steps to Remember Passport.
This special passport allows participants to:
Track their miles
Log milestones and personal reflections
Journal memories along the way
Access inspiring tips and guidance throughout their journey
Passports can be collected from the Hovertravel terminal in Ryde. Participants simply need to show their JustGiving page when collecting their passport.
The event embraces the message of “Your Pace, Your Place”, enabling people to walk in person or virtually, individually or with friends and family.
Whether strolling along the Island’s coastal paths, exploring local neighbourhoods or walking further afield, supporters are united by a shared purpose: to remember loved ones, reflect with heart and make every step count.
Hovertravel is encouraging both residents and visitors to take part, combining the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of walking with the opportunity to support a worthy local cause.
Loretta Lale, Head of Marketing at Hovertravel, said:
“The Steps to Remember Walk is a fantastic initiative and a wonderful way for our community to come together in support of Dementia UK Admiral Nurses on the Isle of Wight.
"It’s a great way to get your steps in while supporting a truly worthy local cause that makes a real difference to families facing dementia every day.”
Hovertravel has long been committed to supporting charitable initiatives across the Isle of Wight and is proud to help raise awareness of this meaningful campaign.
By taking part, walkers will not only be honouring loved ones and building connections within the community, but also contributing vital funds that enable Admiral Nurses to continue delivering specialist care and guidance when it is needed most.
