After weeks of disruption, Horsebridge Hill is set to reopen tomorrow (Wednesday) just in time for the morning rush hour, following a major water main replacement project.
The work, led by Southern Water and carried out by contractors Clancy, has been part of ongoing efforts to upgrade the Island’s water infrastructure.
This final phase involves dismantling the site, with teams working into the evening to ensure the road is fully reopened tomorrow morning.
Southern Water thanked the local community for their patience and cooperation throughout the project.
A Southern Water spokesman said:
“We recognise the disruption that essential infrastructure upgrades can cause, and are grateful for the community’s patience, resilience, and cooperation throughout this project.
"Our teams have been working hard to get the scheme finished quickly and efficiently, and we’re pleased to have completed the work ahead of schedule.
"We are committed to delivering a resilient water network for the Isle of Wight, and works such as these are vital in ensuring long‑term stability and service improvement.”
The company says the reopening marks the completion of an important investment in the Island’s water network, aiming to provide a stronger, safer, and more sustainable service for residents and visitors alike.
