A landmark on Ryde seafront has been restored to its former glory following the completion of a major renovation project.
The historic Eastern Gardens arch has undergone extensive repairs to protect it from future weather damage while preserving its original appearance.
The restoration was carried out as a joint project between the Isle of Wight Council and Ryde Town Council.
The arch was removed from the Esplanade on 23 April and returned to its prominent position today (Thursday).
During the restoration, sections of the structure were stripped back and cleaned before being reattached.
Areas badly affected by rust were carefully refabricated to maintain the arch's historic character.
The work was completed by Island firm ISM Solutions, with most of the restoration taking place on the Isle of Wight.
The arch was galvanised on the mainland due to the lack of suitable facilities on the Island before being repainted with a specialist epoxy finish to improve its durability.
Natasha Dix, the Isle of Wight Council's service director for waste, environment and planning, said the project would ensure the much-loved landmark can be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come.
Ryde Mayor Councillor Karen Lucioni said the restoration demonstrated what could be achieved through strong local partnerships, while ISM Solutions managing director Will Thomas said it had been a privilege to restore such an important feature using modern techniques including 3D scanning and laser cutting.
Ryde Town Council's community planning officer, Chris Turvey, said the partnership between the town council and the Isle of Wight Council had ensured the historic structure was not lost.
