Islanders will get the chance to grill both the Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones and the new Chief Constable Alexis Boon in a live online Q&A next week.
The event – part of the Commissioner’s Oversight of Policing Services (COPS) sessions – will be streamed live at 6pm on Thursday 2 October, giving the public a direct opportunity to ask questions about the issues that matter most.
It’s the first time Chief Constable Boon, who took up his role with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary in August, will face questions from the public.
Topics on the agenda include:
Police visibility and engagement
Business and retail crime
Road safety
Serious violence
Anti-social behaviour
Questions can be sent in advance or asked live during the stream, which will run across three Facebook pages – the PCC’s own, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.
PCC Donna Jones said:
“COPS is your chance to ask your policing questions of myself and the Chief Constable.
"Anyone can join this live online event and ask us a question.
"If you cannot make it onto the live event, or if you don’t have Facebook, you can pre-submit your question and watch the event afterwards on my website.”
She added that community feedback is vital:
“I am committed to the introduction of Local Bobbies and rebuilding local policing.
"To continue this work, I need to know your thoughts on the key issues facing our counties.”
A recording will be made available for anyone who can’t watch live, and all submitted questions will be responded to.
