Voters in Nettlestone and Seaview will have four candidates to choose from at the upcoming Isle of Wight Council elections on May 7.
Standing in the ward are Dr Mouli Akundi (Local Conservatives), Jules Hayward (Independent), Jennifer Holmes (Reform UK) and Janet Mace (Green Party).
The Local Democracy Reporting Service invited all candidates to submit a 100-word statement ahead of polling day.
Conservative candidate Dr Mouli Akundi has lived on the Isle of Wight for 23 years and works as a GP, supporting several local surgeries and previously working at St Mary’s Hospital.
He says his priorities include improving adult social care, tackling sewage spills, securing council finances and protecting local primary schools.
Independent candidate Jules Hayward is a third-generation Islander who lives locally with her family and serves on the parish council.
She says she wants to focus on local priorities rather than party politics, highlighting support for businesses and community groups, improving ferry services, addressing flooding concerns and protecting the environment.
Reform UK candidate Jennifer Holmes did not provide a statement.
Green Party candidate Janet Mace has lived on the Island for five years and is a retired IT worker.
She volunteers with several organisations, including the Isle of Wight Foodbank and Friends of the Animals.
Her priorities include affordable housing and improving support for SEND pupils.
The election will take place on May 7.
