Voters in Lake North will have a choice of four candidates at the upcoming Isle of Wight Council elections on May 7.

Standing for election are Bob Blezzard (Liberal Democrats), Jenny Hicks (Labour), incumbent councillor Bill Nigh (Reform UK) and Adrian Charles Whittaker (Local Conservatives).

The Local Democracy Reporting Service invited all candidates to submit a 100-word statement ahead of polling day.

Liberal Democrat candidate Bob Blezzard did not provide a statement.

Labour candidate Jenny Hicks is a local grandmother who volunteers on a range of community projects across the Bay area, including Sandown in Bloom and carnival fundraising.

Between 2021 and 2025, she served on both Lake Parish Council and Sandown Town Council, where she focused on youth provision and supporting community initiatives.

Reform UK councillor Bill Nigh, who currently represents the ward, did not provide a statement.

Conservative candidate Adrian Whittaker says this will be the third election in the area within a year and that voters face a choice between national party politics and a focus on local issues.

He highlights work on job creation, improvements at Fairway Junction and upgrades to Manor Road Playpark, adding that further improvements are expected in the coming year.

He also points to his role as deputy chairman of Lake Parish Council as experience in delivering for the community.

The election will take place on May 7.
