The Environment Agency has issued multiple flood alerts across the Isle of Wight as heavy rain is forecast and river levels rise.
Gurnard Luck, GurnardÂ
Flooding is possible on 18 February, particularly affecting gardens or properties nearest to the river on Marsh Road.
River levels are expected to rise further at each high tide, with the next tides at 11.45pm tonight and 12pm tomorrow.
Residents are advised to avoid low-lying footpaths and bridges near the river.
River Medina (Blackwater to Newport)
High river levels could affect land, gardens, and some roads, including Blackwater Hollow on the A3020 and Sandy Lane.
The river may also rise at St George’s Way, Shide. Residents should activate flood protection where possible and avoid flood water.
St John’s, RydeÂ
Flooding is possible along Monktonmead Brook, particularly near St John’s Road, the railway station, and Park Road.
While buildings are not expected to be affected, residents should move vehicles from river-adjacent depots and consider flood protection measures.
Lukely Brook (Carisbrooke to Newport)Â
The river could overflow at Foxes Lane and near the Aquatics Centre, as well as affecting footpaths and riverside areas at Old Westminster Lane.
Properties near Vicarage Walk should take precautions.
Rainfall is expected to continue into Thursday morning, 19 February, with smaller amounts forecast from Friday, 20 February. Flood risk is expected to ease from Thursday, 19 February.
The Environment Agency and Island Roads are monitoring river levels and clearing any blockages. Residents are urged to stay alert and follow safety advice.
