There are just ten days left to sign up online for Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s Walk the Wight 2026, with thousands already preparing to take part.

Sponsored by the Isle of Wight Festival and Red Funnel, the popular annual event returns on Sunday, 10 May, turning the Island into a sea of yellow as walkers take on the well-known cross-Island routes.

Online registration costs £15 per person and remains open until 9am on Thursday, 7 May.

This includes entry to a chosen route, a walker number and a commemorative medal at the finish. After that, people can still sign up on the day for £20.

Those who register online can also collect their packs in advance on Saturday, 9 May, from Mountbatten’s Newport hospice on Halberry Lane between 9am and 4pm, helping to avoid queues on the day.

Event organiser Ash Gibbs said excitement is building for what is the charity’s biggest fundraiser of the year, adding that signing up early ensures no one misses out.

Participants can also purchase official merchandise when registering, including T-shirts, caps, socks, reusable water bottles and dog bandanas, with limited stock available on the day.

Walk the Wight raises around £500,000 each year, helping Mountbatten Isle of Wight provide vital care and support to Island families.

The charity delivers the majority of its services in people’s homes, alongside care at its inpatient unit and day services at the John Cheverton Centre in Newport.

Mountbatten supports around 70 per cent of deaths on the Island – significantly higher than the national hospice average.

While entry fees help cover event costs, additional fundraising and sponsorship contribute towards the £10.5 million needed annually to run the charity’s services.
