An elderly driver in his 80s has had his driving licence revoked at the scene following a serious collision involving a car and a cyclist in Freshwater.
Emergency services were called to The Causeway, near the junction with Middle Road, just before 6.20pm on Tuesday evening.
The cyclist, a man in his 60s from the West Wight, suffered a serious leg injury and was taken for further treatment.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed the driver of a red Mini failed a roadside eyesight test carried out by officers at the scene.
His licence was immediately revoked and the DVLA has been informed.
Initial reports suggest the car came around a bend before colliding with the cyclist head-on. The impact left visible damage to the windscreen.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are continuing.
