Cowes Harbour Commission has restated its long-standing commitment to supporting yachting and powerboat events in the town, highlighting their importance to Cowes’ maritime heritage, community life and local economy.
The Commission has worked closely with regatta and event organisers for many years to help deliver a varied programme of sailing and powerboat events.
It says it recognises the significant planning, operational and financial demands involved in hosting large-scale events and remains focused on ensuring Cowes continues to be an accessible and attractive destination for both organisers and participants.
As part of its ongoing support, Cowes Harbour Commission has announced that from 2026 it will reduce costs for visiting vessels attending the major regattas for which Cowes is internationally known.

Yachting and powerboat events bring large numbers of visitors to the town, supporting local marine services as well as hospitality and retail businesses.
The Commission hopes the move will encourage increased participation in established events and help attract new sailing and powerboat events to Cowes in the future.
Chief Executive of Cowes Harbour Commission, Gary Hall, said the decision reflects a desire to actively support the maritime community, encourage greater participation and help local businesses, while ensuring Cowes continues to thrive as a leading destination for maritime events.
Cowes Harbour Commission says it will continue working closely with event organisers, harbour users and local stakeholders to support the long-term success of yachting, powerboating and maritime events in the town.
