The weekend saw four intrepid bus drivers from Southern Vectis successfully complete the Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge from "dawn 'til dusk".

Natalie Woods, Marcin Lakomski, Dave Squirrell and Jamie Butler climbed the highest mountains in the three main mountain areas of Wales - North and South Eryri (Snowdonia) and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons).

They undertook the challenge to raise money for The Veteran Hotel in Ryde, which helps support ex-servicemen and women to get back on their feet if they fall on difficult times.

To make the challenge harder, the quartet opted to climb Mount Snowdon (the tallest mountain in Wales), at night to start the challenge on the summit at sunrise.

Not content with that level of difficulty, they climbed the second mountain - Cadair Idris - by the most difficult route, the South Face Ascent.

The final mountain, Pen y Fan, was climbed via the start of UK special forces Fan Dance route rather than the myriad of other easier climbs, aiming to reach the summit by sunset.

The challenge also includes more than 130 miles of car travel between the three mountains, so completing the them in fifteen hours ensured a tight schedule.

Leaving the top of Snowdon at 5.19am on Sunday and completing all three mountains, with 130 miles of travel between them, took 14 hours and 51 minutes of epic mountain climbing and scrambling.
