The long-standing owners of Appley Manor Hotel in Ryde have announced they are retiring after three decades running the popular Island venue.

In a statement released today, Sarah and Charlie Asher and Paul and Ali Brown expressed their heartfelt thanks to the customers, staff and wider community who have supported the hotel throughout its 30-year journey.

They said the decision to step away had not been easy, but the time had come to pass the business on to new ownership:

“This decision has not been an easy one.

"Appley Manor has been far more than a business to us. It has been a second home, a place filled with laughter, celebrations, hard work and countless cherished memories.
“We have had the privilege of welcoming generations of guests and working alongside an extraordinary team who have become like family.”

The outgoing owners also paid tribute to the many loyal customers who have visited over the years.

“To our loyal customers, thank you for your trust, your continued support and the many stories you have shared within our walls.
"Many of you arrived as guests and left as friends.
“To our incredible staff, thank you for your dedication, professionalism and heart.
"It is your warmth and commitment that built the reputation we are so proud of today.”

The hotel has now been taken over by Ian Paxton, who brings hospitality experience from running the Cocky Anchor pubs in Southampton and Worcester.

The 46-year-old, who also operates a contracting company, is expected to introduce fresh ideas while maintaining the high standards of service and hospitality guests have come to expect from Appley Manor.

Mr Paxton said he felt honoured to be entrusted with the next chapter of the hotel’s story:

“I am honoured to be entrusted with continuing the legacy of Appley Manor Hotel, he said.
"My focus is on maintaining the warm hospitality people know and love, while thoughtfully building for the future”.

The departing owners said stepping away after 30 years is bittersweet, but they do so with immense pride and gratitude to everyone who helped make Appley Manor part of the community for so long.
