A woman suffering a serious medical emergency was airlifted to the mainland after the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance landed at Binstead Golf Course on Saturday lunchtime.
Emergency services were called shortly before midday following reports that the woman had become seriously unwell in what is understood to have been a cardiac-related incident.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service dispatched an ambulance crew, a rapid response paramedic and a critical care paramedic to the scene.
Due to the severity of the situation, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was also tasked to provide specialist critical care.
The helicopter landed on the golf course at Binstead, allowing the advanced medical team to assess and treat the patient before transporting her to the mainland.
Following treatment at the scene, the woman was flown to Solent Airport at Lee-on-the-Solent, where she was transferred for onward treatment at a specialist hospital.
The patient's condition has not been disclosed.
