The Royal Hotel in Ventnor is launching a brand-new “Dickens House Party” weekend from 27 February to 1 March 2026, celebrating Charles Dickens’ ties to the Isle of Wight and his 1838 stay at the hotel.
For the first time, Dickens' great-great-grandsons Gerald and Ian Dickens will host together, offering readings, family stories, and performances for fans and visitors.
The weekend features a relaxed, house-party-style programme, including:
Welcome drinks and dinner with Gerald and Ian
Morning activities like the Charles Dickens Trail or a local Dickens introduction
Leisure time to explore Ventnor and nearby attractions, including Osborne House and Ventnor Botanic Gardens
Optional Victorian-themed Afternoon Tea
Special evening performance of Gerald Dickens’ acclaimed “The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby”
Guests depart Sunday after breakfast and farewells with Gerald and Ian.
Prices start from £529 per room for a two-night stay, including return ferry and full programme access. Special rates are available for island residents.
