Isle Of Wight Band The Optimists Announce New Single

Isle of Wight band The Optimists are set to release their latest single, First Time Again, later this month.

The coast-rock four-piece will put the new track out on Friday 21 August, with the song drawing on the excitement and uncertainty of unexpected summer romance.

The band describe their sound as gritty and energetic alternative music, combining melodic hooks with influences from growing up by the sea.

First Time Again is centred around the idea of taking a chance on something you haven't done for a long time.

Lead vocalist Matt Read said the song came together quickly after he decided to go on a date — something he hadn't done in a long time.

The Optimists have been building a name for themselves on the Island's music scene, having already supported acts including The K's, The Clause, Vistas and The Lilacs.

They have also played major festivals including Victorious and the Isle of Wight Festival, where they have appeared on the Main Stage.

The band are part of an increasingly recognised Isle of Wight music scene which has also produced artists including Wet Leg, Coach Party, Level 42 and The Bees.

First Time Again follows previous tracks including Running Around and Another Mistake, which explore themes of nostalgia, restlessness and life by the coast.

The new single will be available from Friday 21 August.
