Basil Brush Gives Isle Of Wight Comedy Club A Foxy Thumbs-Up
An Isle of Wight comedy club has received a rather foxy seal of approval from one of Britain's best-known TV characters.
Basil Brush has given Jack's Comedy Club his backing in a video message, describing its shows as "absolute top-drawer fun, packed with giggles, cheeky banter, and marvellous entertainment!"
The club has been bringing live stand-up to the Island since 2019 and has been based at Ventnor Arts Club since 2022.
And Basil isn't the first familiar face to give the comedy nights his approval.
Only a few months ago, actor and comedian John Thomson described the club as "the place to be!"
Jack Clay, who runs the club, said having Basil Brush's support was "incredible".
He said the team had been working to bring top-tier comedy circuit acts to the Island and that the endorsement was recognition of those efforts.
The next Jack's Comedy Club show takes place at Ventnor Arts Club on Friday (September 25), but it's already sold out.
Comedy fans will have to wait until November for the next available show, when Paul Tonkinson headlines on Friday, November 13.
And there's more to come, with the club already renewed for 2027 — its fifth year at Ventnor Arts Club.
So, if Basil says it's good, perhaps it's time to stop beating around the bush and get a ticket.
