Coronavirus: Isle Of Wight Lowest Infection Rate In England

The Isle of Wight has the lowest coronavirus infection rate in England.

According to official figures, just one more coronavirus case has been recorded on the Isle of Wight today (Thursday).

It takes the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 999.

Data shows the Island's infection rate per 100,000 is the lowest in England at 16.2.

London now has the highest coronavirus infection rate in England, but cases across the country are levelling off.

The city’s mayor Sadiq Khan has warned the area could soon face the toughest measures, by going into Tier 3.

But another person has died after contracting the virus, according to the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

There have been four deaths on the Isle of Wight this month (December), the NHS Trust says they all had underlying health conditions.

Earlier the head of Public Health on the Isle of Wight warned cases will 'likely' rise after Christmas, as previously reported.
