30 Students Self Isolating After Positive Test Identified At Cowes Enterprise College

Thirty students at Cowes Enterprise College will be self-isolating until Christmas Eve on advice from Public Health England - following a positive test being identified within the school community.

A letter sent to parents this afternoon states that two staff members will also be self-isolating following the identification of potential contacts.

The students who are self-isolating will be required to learn from home from tomorrow onwards.

All the families of those affected have been contacted by school staff, with students who do not develop symptoms of coronavirus being allowed to return to the school after the Christmas break.

The letter from school principal, Rachel Kitley, said:

"I am writing to update you on some additional precautionary actions that are being undertaken following a student testing positive for COVID-19.

"Having sought advice from the Department for Education, Public Health England, the local council and the Ormiston Academies Trust, 2 staff members and 30 students in total who have been identified as potential contacts are now going to be learning remotely from home tomorrow and
self-isolating as a precaution to limit any transmission of the virus.

"Please note that we have made home contact with all of the families of the 30 students and that if we have not been in contact this afternoon, your child is not affected."

Cowes Enterprise College recently saw 65 of its students self isolating after a positive test was identified in November
